Herida Healthcare named UK Business Heroes 2020

Herida Healthcare have been named a UK Business Hero for their contribution to community initiatives during 2020. The award scheme has been created by the Chamber of Commerce to recognise businesses who go above and beyond to make lasting positive contributions to the communities in which they do business. Key amongst Herida's 2020 achievements was the central role they played in helping to create the Nightingale Hospitals in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as implementing multi-shift work patterns to ensure the best possible support for the NHS and wider healthcare communities.

HRH The Countess of Wessex, who is supporting the Chamber of Commerce wrote an open letter (attached) to Herida as a recipient and “thanked Herida and the business community for the contributions during the outbreak”.

Managing Director Sean Spencer said: “We are naturally humbled and proud to receive this award. The truth is Herida worked around the clock during the lead up to the increasing Covid-19 panic, in order to meet the vast hospital and community pressure care mattresses and bed requirements. As the country reacted with a sense of “organised apprehension” to the inevitable demand, Herida played its part and our very tired workforce continued to go above and beyond and for that I shall be grateful to them all. Our manufacturing plant in Morley worked a 3-shift system for a period of 8 weeks, prior to dropping back to double shift and overtime processes. However, the business remains very busy and we are committed to serve our valued customers across the globe. I’d also like to acknowledge the fantastic work of all the Doctors, Nurses and Healthcare workers, alongside the administrative, purchasing, supply chain and logistics teams who were often forgotten. They too worked around relentlessly. It was great to see a network of none associated teams, work seamlessly to deliver the raw materials needed to manufacture the products, through to delivering and installing the finished products”.

Beyond the coronavirus pandemic, the team at Herida have a long tradition of supporting initiatives that improve patient care. This year they were proud to sponsor the Christmas decorations at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Managing Director Sean Spencer: “Having a child in hospital is extremely worrying for any family. The Christmas decorations lifts everyone's spirits, especially the children."
